I don’t know if I left this out or just never mentioned it, but when I shared how many bathrooms The Monarch Revival (our current home) has, my DMs blew up! It’s true – we have eight bathrooms in our house! While I can admit that it is a LOT of bathrooms, for the layout of our home, it actually makes sense and functions very well.
Today on the blog, I thought I would break down the bedroom to bathroom ratio in our home and share more about our plans for remodeling them! I’ll also be showing you the mood board for the first bathroom remodel in this house – The Star Wars Bathroom!

The Monarch Revival Bathrooms
Our home has 5 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms and we are a family of 7. We just did the finishing touches on a quick makeover for my boys’ Pirate room and in that post, I detailed how the bedrooms are split up between our 5 boys!
Bathrooms in our home:
- My bathroom (off of our shared master closet)
2. Craig’s bathroom (off of our shared closet). I did a quick makeover on this space early in the year. This was a really fun weekend project that I detailed on this post right here.
3. Guest bedroom bathroom
4. Black powder bathroom
5. Harry Potter room bathroom
6. Pirate room bathroom
7. Star Wars room bathroom (which we are renovating now!)
8. Billiard room bathroom
Our Bathroom Remodel Plan
At some point, we will remodel all of the bathrooms in our home, but it’s going to be a process! For now, we are very excited to tackle the Star Wars bathroom since it’s the one our boys use them most.
Full bathroom remodels are surprisingly expensive – even for a small space. They can require the assistance of a plumber and/or electrician, and the fixtures are also pricey! I’m not typically hesitant to jump into a project, but a bathroom design requires intention since it’s not something I’ll be able to fix or redo without a significant cost.
Up first..The Star Wars Bathroom!
I made the decision early on that all of the kids’ bathrooms will be black and white to flow with the rest of the house. I’m going to do a unique spin on each one to keep them fun and interesting and the Star Wars bathroom might be my favorite yet. I’m going to include this amazing Star Wars wallpaper on the top half of the bathroom to tie in their room theme.
I love the idea of wallpaper because as they grow up and possibly grow out of a themed space (let’s not talk about that okay?!), we could always change it without doing any demo. The black and white tile is classic and beautiful, too.
We are going with a tub/shower combo and using black marble tile as the surround in a brick lay. I’m not 100% certain on the exact tiles yet, especially for the floor, but the final design will look something like this!
I haven’t shared a bathroom remodel in years and I’m so excited to bring you along! What questions do you have about bathroom remodels? I’ll answer here and in stories!
