If you’ve ever wondered whether a portable TV could actually be worth the splurge, let me tell you—after over a year of using the LG StanByME, I’m hooked. It’s one of those gadgets I didn’t think I needed, but now that it’s in my life, I can’t imagine not having it. From workouts to cooking to keeping my kids entertained, it’s been surprisingly useful. That said, it’s definitely not for everyone, especially with its $999 price tag.
Today on the blog, I’m giving my honest LG StanByME review. While the price is high for TVs (and made me wince at first), it has been an excellent investment with a TON of uses. Hopefully, my opinion will help you decide whether or not it’s right for you.

What Is The LG StanByME?
The LG StanByME is a portable smart TV on wheels. It has a 27-inch touchscreen, a built-in battery for cord-free use (up to three hours), and a stand that adjusts in height and angle. You can roll it from room to room and tilt or swivel the screen to fit whatever you’re doing. It runs on LG’s webOS platform, so you can stream apps like Netflix or YouTube, and it also works with AirPlay 2 if you want to mirror your phone or laptop screen.

When I first saw the price—$999—I hesitated. That’s a lot for a 27-inch TV that isn’t even 4K. But after using it for over a year, I’ve found so many ways to make it work for me. It’s definitely more of a lifestyle gadget than just another TV.
LG StanByME Review: My Honest Experience
I’ll admit, when I first got the StanByME, I wasn’t sure how much I’d actually use it. But now? It gets rolled around my house almost daily. Here are some of the ways I use it most:
Fitness-Friendly
This might be my favorite way to use the StanByME. I do Peloton workouts at home, and being able to roll this TV into an open space makes such a difference. The screen is big enough that I can see what the instructor is doing without squinting at my phone or tablet. Plus, since the screen tilts and swivels, I can adjust it depending on whether I’m doing yoga on the floor or standing for cardio.
Project Companion
Whenever I’m tackling house projects,—I roll this little TV into whatever room I’m working in and put on a show or movie in the background. It makes boring tasks feel way less tedious.
Family Convenience
This TV has been a lifesaver when one of my kids is under the weather—whether that’s their room or just the couch. It’s such a small thing, but having that flexibility makes those tough days a little more manageable.
Kitchen Helper
I also love using the StanByME in the kitchen! The touchscreen makes it so easy to pull up recipes, and I can follow along step-by-step without having to squint at my phone or worry about spilling something on it.
Relaxation Mode
I love using this TV while soaking in the tub! It’s so nice to roll it into the bathroom and watch something while relaxing. The battery life isn’t super long—about three hours—but that’s more than enough for me to enjoy some downtime.
What I Like About It:
- Portability: The wheels make it ridiculously easy to move from room to room.
- Adjustable Screen: You can tilt and swivel the screen to get just the right angle no matter where you’re sitting (or standing).
- Touchscreen: The touchscreen is responsive and makes navigating apps feel natural—especially when pulling up recipes or workout videos.
- Battery Life: While three hours isn’t amazing, it’s enough for most of what I use it for without needing to plug it in constantly.
What Could Be Better:
- The Price: Let’s be real—$999 is steep for what this is. You could get a much larger 4K TV for less money if portability isn’t important to you.
- No 4K Resolution: The Full HD (1080p) screen looks great on its own, but if you’re used to watching everything in 4K, you’ll notice the difference.
- Limited Apps: While webOS supports popular apps like Netflix and YouTube, there are some gaps in its app library compared to other smart TVs or streaming devices like Roku.
LG StanByME Review: Is It Worth It?
Here’s the thing: to me, the LG StanByME is more like an all-purpose tool than just a TV. If you’re someone who loves flexibility and convenience (and doesn’t mind paying extra for it), this could be a great addition to your home. In my opinion, it’s been worth every penny because of how much I use it daily—for workouts, cooking, entertaining my kids, and even just relaxing.

That said, if you’re looking for the best picture quality or want something with every streaming app under the sun, this probably isn’t going to blow your mind—and that price tag might feel hard to justify.
At the end of the day, whether or not it’s worth it depends on your lifestyle and how much value you’d get out of having a portable TV that can move with you throughout your home. For me? I like it! But if you’re unsure, wait for a sale or invest in a higher-quality TV that gets mounted onto the wall.
