This renovation feels like it’s flown by and I am so excited to share another reveal I’ve been dreaming of with you all!
Our finished living room has been through such a transformation, and it finally feels like it reflects who we are and how we live. From the layout changes to the little styling details, every step of the process taught me something new.
Today, I’m walking you through all the details of our finished living room! Whether you’re planning a big renovation or just looking for ways to refresh your space, I hope you’ll find some inspiration here.
All Good Transformations Start With Creating A Purpose
Transforming our living room was about more than just aesthetics—it was about creating a space that feels like the heart of our home. From the beginning, I envisioned a room that balanced functionality with timeless design.

We wanted it to work for our family life but still reflect the classic charm of our home. Every choice we made—whether it was about paint color, furniture, or styling—was intentional and aimed at achieving that balance.
If you’re working on your own space, I think starting with its purpose is so important. Is it for relaxing? Entertaining? A mix of both? Knowing what you want from the room makes it so much easier to plan everything else.
Before The Fun Parts Could Begin, The Entire Floor Needed Layout Changes
The first step in transforming the living room was reworking the layout. Centering the fireplace created a natural focal point and opened up the space while adjusting walkways improved the flow. These structural changes made the room feel larger and more functional, setting the foundation for the design elements to shine.

If you’re considering a layout change, think about how the room is used daily. Structural adjustments, like repositioning focal points or improving traffic flow, can dramatically improve functionality. Keep in mind that these changes often require professional expertise to ensure they’re done safely and up to code. It’s worth the investment for a foundation that supports your vision.

Starting With A Statement! The Power of Green Paint
This space called for something bold and interesting to ensure it could stand on its own and demand attention. I’ve been dying to paint a room green and finally, the time presented itself!
Choosing Benjamin Moore’s Trailing Vines for the walls was a bold step outside my comfort zone—and it paid off. This deep, earthy green gave the room an inviting, dramatic feel while remaining timeless. It pairs beautifully with our neutral furniture and gold accents, creating a sophisticated yet cozy atmosphere.

When working with bold paint colors, swatching is key. Test your chosen shade on different walls and observe how it changes with the light throughout the day. For rooms with less natural light, consider using bold colors as an accent or pairing them with lighter furniture to maintain balance. Green is especially versatile, offering a grounding effect that makes any room feel more serene and connected to nature.

Creating Cohesion with the Kitchen
To tie the living room to the kitchen, I used custom-cut Calacatta marble to frame the fireplace. This choice wasn’t just about adding elegance, but about connecting two separate spaces since the marble mirrors the countertops in the kitchen. These similar elements make the entire first floor feel really cohesive.

I highly recommend using materials or finishes from neighboring spaces to create a cohesive flow. Whether it’s a shared texture, color, or detail, repetition will make your home feel more connected and intentional.
Using The Beauty of Symmetry To My Advantage!
One of my favorite parts of this room is how symmetrical it feels—it’s so calming and visually satisfying!
The mirrors on either side of the TV are a game-changer. Not only do they add symmetry and make the space feel balanced, but they also reflect light and open up the room in such a beautiful way. The dressers beneath them are another favorite—they’re perfect for adding storage without needing built-ins (which can get pricey!). Plus, they anchor each side of the TV and make everything look cohesive.

I love how both sides of the room mirror each other—it creates such a polished look without feeling too formal or stiff. If you’re looking for an easy way to elevate your living room, adding symmetrical elements like mirrors or matching furniture is such a great option.
Sofas That Don’t Break the Bank
Let’s talk about these sofas! They’re not expensive at all, but they look amazing in this space—and they’re so comfortable too! I love them because they’re practical for family life but still feel stylish enough for entertaining friends.
If you’re shopping for sofas, don’t be afraid to mix budget-friendly options with higher-end pieces in your room. It’s all about finding what works for your lifestyle and making it feel intentional with styling choices like pillows or throws.
